Description
Database of Colombian information on marine biodiversity. more
The Marine Biodiversity Information System (SIBM) is a relational database, georeferenced, and implemented in ORACLE, designed by INVEMAR. Its aim is to systematize the Colombian information on marine biodiversity. In the System, data bases in multimedia electronic format of the species stored in the Museo de Historia Natural Marina de Colombia (MHNMC), as well the related information of their capture and identification according to standards already established, are combined. The SIBM is a key tool of access to scientific, technical and public levels on the marine and coastal Colombian biodiversity. Similarly, it provides a link to the relations establishment and coordination with technical national institutions and managers of the natural resources involved with the subject. The original dataset, provided by INVEMAR, contains all distribution records. The dataset in OBIS Seamap is a subset of the original dataset, only containing marine mammal, seabird and/or sea turtle records. Scope Themes: Biology > Birds, Biology > Ecology - biodiversity, Biology > Fish, Biology > Invertebrates, Biology > Mammals Keywords: Marine/Coastal, ASW, Caribbean Geographical coverage ASW, Caribbean [Marine Regions] Temporal coverage
