Het HIC is dé partner van de Vlaamse waterwegbeheerders, die 24x7 zorgt voor accurate metingen, voorspellingen en tijdig advies bij dreigende wateroverlast en -tekorten. Het HIC ondersteunt onderzoek rond watersystemen (door het aanleveren van kwaliteitsvolle basisdata) o.b.v. sedimentanalyse, databeheer en meetcampagnes. Het HIC verzamelt, valideert en verspreidt data ter ondersteuning van onderzoek rond watersystemen
