The Institute of Oncology (Institutul Oncologic ""Al. Trestioreanu"" Bucuresti), Prof.dr.Alex.Trestioreanu, in Bucharest, Romania, is a complex institution having both clinical, research and teaching departments. It has over 600 beds for cancer chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy and oncological pediatry. The research staff of the Institute is represented by more than 80 scientists.

Many of the studies carried out by the IOB are included in Romanian National Research Programs, (PNII, CEEX, VIASAN, BIOTECH, NANOTECH, and other) financed by Ministry of Education and Research and Ministry of Health. Now, included in the mentioned Programs, 19 projects are delivered here. Also, many international collaborative research projects, including both clinical trials and experimental studies are done in the Institute.

The Institute gives teaching activities: lectures and practical courses for the students of various universities: University of Medicine and Pharmacy C. Davila, University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, University of Bucharest) are delivered here, including post-graduate and PhD training.
