The Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute (Masarykův onkologický ústav) is the leading medical and scientific organisation in the field of clinical oncology and translational and applied research in the Czech Republic. Its activities include clinical activities, research, clinical trials, and specialist training – medical students, nurses, graduate and postgraduates students in clinical oncology and related disciplines. The clinical activity of MMCI has proven its foundation through increased patient satisfaction with the care offered which has been reflected in the steadily increasing patient accrual rate. Also, the number of clinical trials has been growing for a last couple of years. Research at MMCI is a statutorily embodied activity and has been historically based on contract grants, institutional grants and research projects conducted “on demand”.
