The Marine Geology and Physical Oceanography Laboratory was established in 1988 within the Department of Geology of the University of Patras. The Laboratory is at present by far the largest teaching and research University center in its field in Greece.
The Laboratory has at its disposal highly sophisticated instruments and facilities, which are used for the acquisition and analysis of: (i) Hydrographic and Marine Geophysical data, (ii) Oceanographic, Coastal and Environmental data and (iii) Benthic and Geotechnical data.
Current research activities are focused on Marine Geology, Physical and Environmental Oceanography, Coastal Geomorphology and Underwater Archaeology.
