Mr Kerkhove, Thomas

Thomas Kerkhove is a PhD student focussing on the genetics and ecology of the Atlantic seabob shrimp Xiphopenaeus kroyeri, knowledge which can be used to direct fishery management of this species. For this PhD research, he commutes between Belgium and Suriname. Thomas did his bachelor in biology at Ghent University and started the Erasmus Mundus Master of Science in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation (EMBC) at the same university, completing it at the Pierre and Marie Curie University – Paris 6. For his master thesis, he investigated the trophic ecology of the seabob shrimp in Suriname, where he stayed for four months.
