The morphological evolution of the Belgian coast is evaluated every decade to detect the erosive or accreting trends. This is done by analysing the yearly topographic and bathymetric surveys and by accounting for human interventions (dredging, beach nourishments or sediment by-passing). These trends are then used by MDK-Afdeling Kust to fundament the beach management in general and to identify the most vulnerable coastal areas which require intervention.
