Beschrijving
Climatological monthly means output (physical variables) from the global hydrodynamic-biogeochemical model (NEMO-ERSEM) by the Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML) within the framework of the project Mission Atlantic (https://missionatlantic.eu/). This 40-year monthly means netcdf file of 1 degree regular grid resolution is a sample aiming to show the results of the model in the geonode. The variables included in this netcdf are: sea water absolute salinity (so_abs, units: psu), sea water conservative temperature (thetao_con, units: C°), mixed layer depth (mldr10_1, units: m), latitude (lat, units: degrees), longitude (lon, units: degrees), time (time, units: seconds since 1900-01-01 00:00:00), depth [height] (z, units: m). The original model output files are stored with the data provider at the Plymouth Marine Laboratory. meerLineage - This dataset was generated by running the NEMO-ERSEM coupled physics-biogeochemistry ocean modelling suite in its SE-NEMO eORCA025 global configuration on the ARCHER2 HPC facility. NEMO (Nucleus for European Modelling of the Ocean, Gurvan et al., 2019, 10.5281/ZENODO.3878122) is an hydrodynamic ocean model and ERSEM (European Regional Seas Ecosystem Model, Butenschön et al., 2016, 10.5194/gmd-9-1293-2016) is a lower trophic network biogeochemical model. The model has an horizontal resolution of 0.25 degrees on a tripolar grid and uses 72 multi-envelope vertical levels. The model includes tidal and sea ice dynamics. Original outputs' resolution (stored in MDA) was degraded to one degree and regridded on a regular vertical grid to be suitable for the online viewer (Mission Atlantic GeoNode). This hindcast simulation ran from 1976 to 2019. The model was initialised with biogeochemical fields from the GLODAP climatology dataset (Olsen et al., 2016, 10.5194/essd-8-297-2016) and from the global ocean iron climatology in (Huang et al. 2022, 10.3389/fmars.2022.837183). Variables not present in these datasets (e.g. plankton functional types) were initialised with constant low values. Physics initial conditions are from the EN4 climatology (Good et al. 2013, 10.1002/2013JC009067). Physics atmospheric forcing fields (temperature, pressure, wind, precipitation) are from the global reanalysis JRA-55 (Kobayashi et al., 2015, 10.2151/jmsj.2015-001). Atmospheric nitrogen deposition is from the Inter-Sectoral Impact Model Intercomparison Project (ISIMIP3a; http://www.isimip.org, last access: 28 April 2023) and iron deposition is from Myriokefalitakis et al. (2018, 10.5194/os-16-1183-2020). River discharge is derived from (Tsujino et al., 2018, 10.5194/gmd-13-3643-2020). River nutrient loads are from a global coarse resolution catchment model (Beusen et al., 2022, 10.1016/j.gloenvcha.2021.102426) combined with freshwater inputs. This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 862428 (MISSION ATLANTIC).
