Beschrijving

The number of recreational marinas has increased in recent years due to the growing demand for leisure boating. Recreational marinas are key points for the introduction of non-indigenous species (NIS). However, there is a scarce knowledge on the influence of environmental features on NIS fouling assemblages, especially regarding different salinity conditions. This dataset contains information on the abundance (in terms of density of individuals) of cryptogenic and NIS associated with floating pontoons of six Northern Portuguese marinas in under two different salinity conditions: marine vs brackish.

meer

This dataset contains information on the abundance of cryptogenic and NIS associated with floating pontoons of marine (salinity > 32 psu) and brackish marinas (salinity < 20 psu) of North Portugal. Moreover, the dataset includes environmental data of the sampling event, specifically salinity, temperature and dissolved oxygen.

Sampling and dataset creation were done in the framework of the project 'Marina-Forests' (10.54499/2022.06806.PTDC) funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT ) and partially through national funds within the scope of UIDB/04423/2020 and UIDP/04423/2020, granted to CIIMAR and LA/P/0069/2020, to the Associate Laboratory ARNET and (10.54499/UIDB/04050/2020) to CBMA. P Veiga (2023.08939.CEECIND) and M Rubal (10.54499/CEECINST/00018/2021/CP2806/CT0021) were hired through the “Regulamento do Emprego Científico e Tecnológico—RJEC”, and Jesús Fernández-Gutiérrez (2023.04100.BD) was supported by a PhD scholarship from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) program.
