De groep Duurzame Energie- en Lucht- en Watertechnologie (DuEL) richt zich op vier domeinen:
  • zonne-energie tot chemische energie;
  • gasbehandeling en CO2-oplossingen;
  • waterbehandeling en valorisatie van nutriënten;
  • systeemanalyse en duurzaamheidsbeoordeling.


De groep wil de aquacultuurpraktijken verbeteren, duurzame energiebronnen onderzoeken en innovatieve biotechnologische oplossingen voor diverse toepassingen ontwikkelen. Het onderzoek heeft betrekking op verschillende onderwerpen, zoals het gebruik van paarse bacteriën als eiwitingradiënt in garnalenvoer, de optimalisering van de productie van microalgen voor eiwit en voedingswaarde, de verkenning van de productie van waterstofbrandstof uit zeewater, de uitdagingen van het gebruik van waterstof voor maritieme toepassingen, etc.
