The new H2020 BANOS (BAltic and NOrth Sea) CSA project, coordinated by BONUS EEIG, aims to prepare a framework for launching a joint research and innovation programme for the Baltic Sea and the North Sea from 2021. The aim of this future programme is to establish joint research and innovation projects in the Baltic Sea and the North Sea.
The BANOS CSA consortium consists of key research institutes and funding agencies from twelve Member States around these regional seas. They will work around the following four strategic objectives: creating a joint strategic research and innovation agenda, developing mechanisms and tools to implement the future programme, pursuing a coordinated communication strategy, setting up the necessary mechanisms for success and creating a positive impact of the future programme.
The aim of this programme is to underpin national and European policies and strategies for the regional development of Blue Growth in the regions concerned. The aim is a high degree of scientific, administrative and financial integration by Europe, which will allow a strong commitment to creating European added value and impact.
The BANOS CSA started 6 November 2018 and will run until the beginning of 2021. Belgian representation is taken up by the Flemish Institute for the Sea (VLIZ), which is mandated by the Department of Economics, Science & Innovation (ESI).
