Abstract
The authors report the discovery of a very rich and well preserved ostracod fauna in the lower part of the Famennian at Sinsin (southern border of the Dinant Basin, Belgium). This assemblage is poorly diversified - 98% of the ostracod fauna is composed of five species - and is indicative of a shallow marine environment. The valves of ostracods are frequently found in "saucer stack" arrangement in the base of the Famennian. This arrangement is favoured by the monospecificity and is observed in shallow environments as the shore of a lake or a sebkha.Five new species are erected Glezeria minuta n. sp., Ovatoquasillites alveolata n. sp., Knoxiella famennensis n. sp., Healdianella? tenuistriata n. sp. et Cryptophyllus sinsinensis n. sp.
