Abstract
Prionospio (Apoprionospio) pygmaea (Polychaeta, Spionidae), a new species for the Mediterranean fauna has been collected in subtidal sandy bottoms of Porto Pozzo ria (North-East Sardinia). The morphological and ecological characteristics are discussed and compared with those of the closely related species Prionospio (Apoprionospio) dayi.
