Abstract
    On September 5th 2002, a live specimen of the grey topshell Gibbula cineraria L., 1758 was found on the wreck of the Birkenfels, lying in Belgian waters, at approximately 30 nautical miles northwest of Ostend. This proves that this species occurs in Belgian waters, on suitable hard substrates.
