The Gibraltar region has been sampled by the BALGIM océanographie cruise to study deep-sea faunal exchanges between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Five ctenostome species and 32 cyclostome species were identified from the material collected on both sides of the Strait of Gibraltar. Several cyclostomes are described in detail : two poorly known species [Idmidronea flexuosa (Pourtales), Entalophoroecia elegans (Norman)], deep-sea morphotypes of E. gracilis Harmelin, and a new species (E. balgimae n. sp.).
