Abstract
    This first volume of the seminar proceedings contain several reflections on the theoretical background of NFP's, all the keynote papers, as well as the supplementary papers given at the seminar, and a documentation of the workshop sessions held during the seminar. They all seem to reveal the characteristic that NFP's are processes which are aimed at stimulating or initiating changes or improvement in existing structures, approaches and procedures of activities relating to forests and forestry, ensuring social benefits and public interests
