Brominated flame retardants (BFR) concentrations were determined in the fine fraction (<63µm) of 10 surface sediments located in the southern part of the Dutch section of the North Sea Continental Shelf. Concentrations generally decreased with increasing distance from the Dutch shore. Highest levels were found off the Western Scheldt, which is in accordance with findings reported by other authors.
