A small population of the brown alga Undaria pinnatifida has been followed during a growth season. Growth starts in November. During the first month growth was spectacular but from the end of December until the beginning of February, the growing plants suffered from grazing by some coots (Fulica atra). After the disappearance of the coots, at the beginning of March, the plants could growth again. They are fertile in the month of May. After this month, growth stops and deterioration starts. At the end of September, all Undaria have disappeared.
