Abstract
    After a brief description of the present day North Sea shelf, the paper deals with the main processes of its genesis and evolution: continental river and glacier sediment supply, marine sediment reworking into deposits and shelf landforms, climatic changes with sea level variation and land ice movements, differential soil movement. It advances some evidences.
