A new buccinid from deep water off New Caledonia is described as Euthria philpoppei sp. nov. The inflated protoconch, the peculiar knobbed axial sculpture on the upper whorls and the suture which is suddenly bending down at the last whorl, serve to distinguish this new species from all other known Euthria species. Size of protoconch and sipho, as well as the glossy and brilliant shell, serve to distinguish this new species from species of Buccinulum Deshayes, 1830.
