Abstract
    The study of the Late Devonian Devils Gate Pass section west of the Pilot basin (Nevada, USA) shows an abrupt change in ostracod fauna at the Frasnian/Famennian boundary (FFB). More than 75% of the ostracod species present in the uppermost beds of the Frasnian disappear across the boundary. This extinction rate is comparable to that observed at the FFB at Coumiac (France) and seems to demonstrate that, at least in lower latitudes, the FFB mais extinction is an abrupt and widespread event.
