 Geomorfologie van de diepe oceaan
Description Aan de voet van de continentale helling begint rond 2 500 m diepte de abyssale vlakte. De
abyssale vlakte neemt zeker een derde van de planeet in. Op het eerste gezicht ziet de
bodem er kaal en plat uit. Het landschap blijkt echter vol verrassingen te zitten. Af en toe steekt er een vulkaan of een seamount van meer dan 1 000 m hoogte bovenuit.
